Member-Sponsored Education Grant

Guidelines and Application

Southwest Virginia Solid Waste Management Association

I. Grant Information

A. Amount - $500.00

B. Will be awarded at the annual meeting and equipment show in September of each year.

C. The number of recipients will be determined by the Education Grant Committee.

D. The Southwest Virginia Solid Waste Management Association reserves the right to withhold the Education Grant if candidates do not adequately meet criteria or if funds are unavailable.

II. Criteria for Applicants

A. Must be attending college in the award year.

B. Registered as a full time or part-time student.

C. Recipients will be determined by a committee

III. Applicants will be ranked based on the following attributes:

A. Academics (GPA)

B. Other Activities (research, interests, etc.)

C. Academics and/or Career Goals related to Solid Waste Management

D. Virginia Resident and/or Virginia School

IV. Applications

A. Should include a listing of courses, grades and/or GPA. (Transcripts are not necessary; however, if you have a copy of grades for any semester, please include with application.)

B. Candidates should include in the application a description of any research, internship, work program or other relevant venture.

1. The nature of the research/internship/work/experience.

2. Candidate’s role and performance with the effort.

3. The time dedicated to the effort.

C. Applications must be postmarked no later than August 15 and received within one week of the deadline.
